UBS Wealth Management appointed another senior manager to its Greater China ultra high net worth group. Terry Tung was named as executive director. He has previously worked at HSBC Private Bank and before this, Credit Suisse.
ANZ Private Bank appointed a new market head for Greater China. Andrew Cheng is based in Hong Kong and reports to ANZ Private Bank’s head of North Asia region, Arjan de Boer. Cheng was most recently at DBS Private Bank, responsible for the Greater China region, also based in Hong Kong.
Old Mutual Global Investors appointed Blackrock’s Joshua Crabb as head of Asian equities. Crabb started at Old Mutual Global Investors in London and was due to return to Hong Kong to work for Old Mutual Global Investors (Asia Pacific) Limited following regulatory approval. Crabb is supported by a new team of two joined by analysts analysts, Kris Whitlock and Dmitry Lapidus, who worked alongside him in Blackrock’s Asia pacific equity team. Reporting to Julian Ide, chief executive of Old Mutual Global Investors, Crabb leads development of the Asian equities product range.
AXA Investment Managers, part of European financial services giant AXA, appointed Honyu Fung as senior portfolio manager and Jason Pang as portfolio manager within its Asian fixed income team. Both managers are based in Hong Kong and report to Jim Veneau, head of Fixed Income Asia. The managers have both worked previously at HSBC Global Asset Management.
Mizuho Securities Asia appointed Scott Paul as managing director and head of pan-Asian fixed income sales. He reports locally into Seiichiro Miyaoka, president and chief executive of MHSA, and globally into Hiroshi Yoshizawa, Mizuho’s global head of pan-Asian fixed income. Paul is based in Hong Kong and his role was a newly created one. He previously worked at Credit Agricole CIB where he was regional head of sales for Asia across all fixed income products.
Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management appointed Henry Wong as head of Asian fixed income for the Asia-Pacific region. He is based in Hong Kong and reports to Elke Schoeppl-Jost, chief investment officer for Asia-Pacific and regional asset class head – Fixed Income/Multi Asset. This is a newly created role. Wong brought 26 years of asset management and banking experience to Deutsche AWM. He joined from BEA Union Investment Management Limited where he was CIO, fixed income, responsible for managing Asia fixed income in both hard and local currencies for unit trusts and institutional clients.
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors named Andrew Lee as the new elected chairman of Hong Kong board for a one-year term of office. Lee is managing director of Sunbase International Properties Management.
Former BNP Paribas wealth manager Helen Tong was appointed by UBS, in Hong Kong. Tong, who had been at the French bank for a month previously worked at JP Morgan.
Ogier, the offshore law firm, added to its dispute resolution team in Hong Kong by moving one of its partners to Asia from the British Virgin Islands. Ogier's Hong Kong dispute resolution practice is headed by partner Ray Ng who relocated from BVI to Hong Kong.
Zurich Life Singapore appointed Jamie McNish to the newly-created position of chief sales officer, taking effect from 15 December. McNish oversees all distribution-related activities for the expatriate and local financial advisor channels as well as banks. He reports to Peter Huber, chief executive of Zurich’s Life business in Singapore. Previously, McNish worked at Friends Provident International, where he was the regional director responsible for managing the sales teams in the Middle East and Africa region. Prior to that, he was the regional sales director and senior executive officer for Swiss Life Private Placement (Middle East).
The firm also made Belinda Tan head of local financial advisers and banks of its life business in Singapore. She reports to Huber; Tan joined Zurich Life from Friends Provident International, where she was regional sales manager for the Bancassurance and financial adviser channels.
Bank J Safra Sarasin appointed Franck Schiller as a director focused on international markets, and is based in Singapore. Schiller previously worked at Societe Generale, where he was a relationship manager at the French bank’s international team.
DBS Bank said John Laurens, an industry veteran with over 30 years in the sector, was joining on 10 November as head of global transaction services. He took over from Tom McCabe, who after 18 years in Asia, relocated to the US to head up the DBS franchise there. Laurens was HSBC’s Asia-Pacific Head of global payments and cash management, and oversaw the business across 19 Asia-Pacific markets. Prior to HSBC, he had also spent more than 13 years in Citibank in various roles, including as regional head of global cash and trade product management, and regional sales head of global transaction services. McCabe is head of the bank’s US franchise, effective from 1 October, DBS said.
